The Accident Series project – the old becomes new

New York City-based Turkish artist Zeren Badar takes cheap prints of classical paintings and transforms them by covering them in objects like food or random household items.

The Accident Series project brought new life to old and classical. Zeren Badar, a self-taught conceptual artist and photographer wants to make us question our own perceptions of art. But there is nothing accidental about Badar´s process.

How to find an explanation for his work?

Badar says he is nfluenced by dada and neo-dada movements and calls his pieces “Duchampian ready-mades.” Through the use of shadows, layering, crumpling and folding effects, he gives the images a three-dimensional effect further enhancing the transformation of mundane objects into suitable companions for characters like the Mona Lisa.

Once he photographes the final result, Badar destroys the piece so the only way you can experience his work is by browsing further or visiting his website and Instagram.
